Koala Bears
Koala Bears are beautiful animals native to eastern and southern Australia.
The koala is not technically a bear, but is rather an arboreal herbivorous marsupial. Koala bears were largely
exterminated during the early 20th century in South Australia, but the state of Victoria offered up some of its
koala bears to help repopulate the area. Native koala bears cannot be found in Tasmania or Western Australia.
KoalaBears.com offers pictures of koala bears,
facts about koala bears, information on the endangered status of
koala bears, koala bear habitat information, great videos
of koala bears, and a discussion about whether or not koala bears make good pets.
There are many different estimates of the population of koala bears in the wild, from as low as
43,000 to as high as "hundreds of thousands." Koala bears are officially classified as threatened in
the United States.
